When welding, welders often need to weld. When it comes to welding large equipment and fine parts, it is common for you to take a couple of hours. “According to the technological requirements, the welding process cannot be stopped. In order to make herself strong, she started with deep practice. When it was all right, people sat and she groaned. She also reduced the number of toilets by drinking less water and not drinking water to ensure that she can concentrate on welding.

With this tenacity, not more than two years, Geng Hongxia went from the “outsider” to the junior worker and then to the chief technician. The flat welding, vertical welding, overhead welding, and argon-arc welding were all mastered.

In 2006 , Laiwu Steel dispatched Yan Hongxia to participate in the first welding and riveting professional skill contest of the national metallurgical construction system. In order to achieve good results, she practiced techniques during the day and read the theory books at night. She stayed up until 11 o'clock every night. In the end, as the only female player to participate in the competition, Zhai Hongxia won the second place in the overhead welding process and first place in the appearance with excellent skills. A few years later, in the Sixth National Iron and Steel Industry Vocational Skills Competition, she won another runner-up in the Welders Competition.

Once, when welding a large-diameter pipe, a welder took a paint bucket to get to the top of the pipe and stood on the top to weld. This can scare Yan Hongxia and immediately stop the welder. On one occasion, at a high altitude, a welder could not find a place where the safety belt was placed on a high ground. After careful observation of this illegal phenomenon, Yan Hongxia first criticized education and later punished warnings. She also repeatedly educated the entire class as a typical case.
