Korean public transport will enable wireless power supply system

In the context of the use of electricity for power in most of the world’s public transport systems, the slow pace of the power sector seems to be an urgent issue to be resolved. It is reported that, in recent days, South Korea stated that they will adopt wireless power supply systems in the field of public transport, thereby replacing the existing wired power supply systems. Researchers from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology have completed major research on radio supply in recent days. Researchers called this system On-line Electric Vehicles (OLEV), which has been put into testing.

Once the test results are good, South Korea will begin to popularize this new type of traffic power supply system.

According to reports, OLEV uses wireless inductive charging technology to transfer electricity from the ground to the coils of underground vehicles. Researchers said that they currently have a maximum transfer rate of 85%.
