The proper installation and security of surveillance equipment play a vital role in ensuring the safe and stable operation of the system. In the initial stages, from selecting suppliers to finalizing plans, negotiating approvals, and receiving the products, a significant amount of time and effort is invested. However, once the equipment is installed, the post-installation phase is often overlooked. This neglect is similar to the situation where, after extensive efforts to purchase the product, the final stage—ensuring it functions properly—is neglected. As a result, the lifespan of the equipment is reduced, and the desired performance is not achieved. Many users then blame the manufacturers for poor quality, without realizing that maintenance and protection in the later stages are equally important.
To address this issue, we outline the key installation details for four commonly used security devices:
**First, Monitor Installation**
1. The monitor should be mounted firmly and stably, ensuring good ventilation and heat dissipation.
2. Avoid placing the screen in direct sunlight. If unavoidable, use light-shielding measures to prevent glare.
3. All adjustment knobs should be easily accessible, and protective covers can be added for extra safety.
**Second, Console Installation**
1. The console must be installed vertically and smoothly. Once the rack is in place, all internal components should be properly positioned and reinforced. Ensure that all equipment is securely and correctly installed.
2. All screws, washers, and spring washers must be tight and not missing.
3. Cable slots and inlet holes should be pre-installed according to the cabinet and console layout. The bending radius of cables should be more than 10 times the cable diameter.
4. Connectors and equipment inside the console or rack must be reliable, firmly installed, and free from distortion.
5. Leave enough cable length at both ends, and mark them clearly for easy maintenance and management.
6. In large-scale security monitoring systems, an anti-static raised floor should be installed in the control room.
**Third, Camera Installation**
1. Before installation, check that the camera and lens are functioning properly. Adjust the coarse focus and back focus. Only install the camera once it is confirmed to be working correctly.
2. Check the horizontal and vertical rotation angles of PTZ cameras. Verify the tightness of the protective cover and the operation of the wiper. Confirm the mounting dimensions of the PTZ and bracket.
3. Do not remove the lens cap during transportation or installation.
4. Install the camera and housing securely. Fix the power, video, and control cables in a way that allows the camera to rotate freely.
5. After the initial setup, check the power supply and test all functions. Observe the image quality in the monitored area, and secure the camera only after meeting the requirements.
**Fourth, Alarm Detector Installation**
1. Install alarm detectors at the locations specified in the construction drawings. If there are obstructions (such as ducts, pipes, furniture, etc.) in the installation area or the detection zone, consider replacing the detector type (e.g., ceiling to wall or vice versa). If the distance between the detector and the protected area is too large, adjust the design by adding more detectors.
2. After installation, verify whether the coverage area meets the design specifications. If not, adjust the angle and direction of the detector. If the problem persists, modify the design or add additional detectors to ensure full coverage.
Proper installation and ongoing maintenance are essential to maximizing the performance and longevity of your security system. Taking the time to follow these guidelines will help you avoid future issues and ensure a reliable and effective monitoring solution.
