The proper installation and security of surveillance equipment play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the entire system. However, many organizations tend to overlook the importance of post-installation maintenance and management, which can lead to long-term issues such as reduced service life and poor performance. In the early stages, significant time and effort are invested in selecting suppliers, finalizing plans, negotiating prices, and receiving the products. Unfortunately, once the equipment is installed, the focus often shifts away from ongoing maintenance, leading to neglect that undermines the initial investment.
This lack of attention to maintenance often results in complaints about product quality, even when the issue lies in improper handling or lack of care after installation. To address this, we have outlined the key installation guidelines for four commonly used security devices:
**First, Monitor Installation**
1. The monitor should be mounted securely and stably, with good ventilation and heat dissipation to prevent overheating.
2. Avoid placing the monitor in direct sunlight or under bright lights. If unavoidable, use light-shielding measures to ensure clear visibility.
3. All adjustment knobs should be easily accessible, and protective covers may be added for safety and convenience.
**Second, Console Installation**
1. The console must be installed vertically and smoothly. Once the rack is in place, all internal components should be properly positioned and reinforced.
2. Ensure all screws, washers, and spring washers are firmly tightened and not missing.
3. Install cable slots and inlet holes according to the cabinet and console layout, making sure the bending radius of cables is at least 10 times the diameter.
4. Connectors and equipment inside the console or rack should be secure, well-aligned, and free from distortion.
5. Leave some extra cable length at both ends and mark them clearly for easy maintenance and future reference.
6. For large-scale surveillance systems, an anti-static raised floor should be installed in the control room to protect sensitive equipment.
**Third, Camera Installation**
1. Before installation, check that the camera and lens are functioning properly. Adjust the coarse focus and back focus accordingly. Only install the device once it is confirmed to be working correctly.
2. Verify the horizontal and vertical rotation angles of PTZ cameras, check the tightness of the protective cover, and test the wiper function. Also, confirm the mounting dimensions of the PTZ and bracket.
3. Do not remove the lens cap during transportation or installation to avoid damage.
4. Mount the camera and its head firmly and stably. Secure power, video, and control cables, ensuring there is enough space for smooth movement.
5. After initial installation, check the power supply and test all functions, including wind detection (if applicable), and observe the image quality in the monitored area before finalizing the setup.
**Fourth, Alarm Detector Installation**
1. Install alarm detectors at the locations specified in the construction drawings. If there are obstructions—such as vents, pipes, or furniture—in the detection area, consider replacing the detector type (e.g., wall-mounted instead of ceiling-mounted) or adjust the location accordingly. If the distance between the detector and the protected area is too large, modify the design by adding more detectors.
2. After installation, verify that the detection range meets the design specifications. If not, adjust the angle and direction of the detector. If the adjustments still do not meet the requirements, revise the design or increase the number of detectors to ensure full coverage.
