(1) No power. Check if the power supply system is providing electricity to the electric hoist. This can usually be tested using a voltage tester or a test light. If there's no power reaching the system, wait for the electrical service to be restored before proceeding. It’s important to ensure that all power sources are properly connected and functioning before attempting to operate the hoist again.
(2) Missing phase. Electrical issues in the main or control circuits, such as broken wires or poor connections, can cause the hoist motor to lose phase and fail to operate correctly. In such cases, it's essential to inspect and repair both the main and control circuits to avoid further damage. Never attempt to power up the motor unless the main and control circuits are confirmed to be safe. If the motor runs unexpectedly or loses power suddenly, it could lead to serious damage. Always disconnect the motor from the power line first, then apply power only to the control circuits. Use the start and stop switches to jog the motor and check its operation. Inspect all electrical components and wiring for faults, and replace or repair any damaged parts. Once everything is verified to be working properly, retest the hoist to ensure it operates safely.
(3) Low voltage. If the terminal voltage of the hoist motor is 10% below its rated value, the motor may not generate enough starting torque to move the load, causing the hoist to stall or fail to function. To diagnose this issue, use a multimeter or voltmeter to measure the voltage at the motor's input terminals. If the voltage is too low, investigate the power supply system for possible issues such as overloaded circuits, faulty wiring, or inadequate power distribution. Ensure that the voltage remains stable and within acceptable limits before operating the hoist.
