Test paper 15 minutes to detect melamine

Wuhan Dr. Team Develops Three Kinds of Quick Detection Methods for Dairy Products

According to Xinhua News Agency, Wuhan, October 5th, Wuhan University of Technology, three doctors formed a scientific research team, recently developed three methods for rapid testing of melamine in dairy products. The testing methods can meet the requirements of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the operating costs are low. Detection time can be controlled within 15 minutes.

Wuhan Polytechnic Institute was formerly known as Wuhan Institute of Food Industry, and it is one of the earliest schools to cultivate professional talents in food and food industry. It has scientific research advantages in the areas of grain and oil, feed, food processing and security.

Liu Zhiguo, deputy director of the Department of Biology and Pharmaceutical Engineering at Wuhan Polytechnic Institute, said that he used the principle of mutual recognition of anti-source and antibody in immunology to create an antibody test strip that can recognize melamine. Simply insert the test strip into the dilute milk product to detect the presence of melamine in the milk product. This method is quick and sensitive, it can be mastered without special technical training, and the detection time can be controlled within 15 minutes. This method has entered the national patent application process.

In addition, Yang Ming, the director of the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the school, focused on the detection of melamine in solid milk powder. He used UV-visible spectrophotometry to quantitatively analyze the melamine characteristics. Detection time is controlled within 30 minutes. Dr. Chen Xin of the Department of Biology and Pharmaceutical Engineering uses membrane separation technology to extract sample solutions, eliminating the complicated steps of hydrolyzed protein, solution precipitation, centrifugation and solid-phase extraction in traditional detection methods. UV-Vis spectrophotometry or chemical detection can then be used. The method to test the melamine content in the sample. The sample detection time is less than 30 minutes.

AQSIQ openly solicited inspection agencies

According to the website of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, according to the decision of the National Leading Group dealing with the Sanlu infant milk powder incident, the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) has been in quality since October 2, 2008, on the full use of social testing resources to carry out the decision to include melamine in dairy products. On the official website of the General Administration of the Inspectorate, 385 verified food inspection agencies for "testable melamine" (hereinafter referred to as the "List") have been published to the public.

In order to enable dairy companies to obtain more convenient and rapid testing services, AQSIQ has decided to solicit information from the public about food testing organizations that can publish “melamine” outside of the “List”. The specific matters are announced as follows:

Requirements for food testing agencies that can detect "melamine"

1. Third-party food testing agencies; 2. Obtaining laboratory accreditation (measurement certification); 3. Having appropriate testing sites, equipment, personnel, and experience; 4. Complying with high performance liquid chromatography, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry One or more detection methods in the gas chromatograph-mass spectrometry method are used to detect melamine.
