Magnesium-aluminum carbon steel refined steel ladle developed and applied in Shougang successfully

On September 10, Shougang Corporation organized an acceptance evaluation of the scientific and technological achievements of the development and application of "225 tons of Mg-Al carbon steel ladle for steel refining." The experts of the acceptance assessment committee unanimously held that the results jointly developed by Shougang No. 2 Steel Plant and Shougang Kurosaki have been innovative and the technical level has reached the domestic advanced level.

In order to comply with the production needs of the second steelmaking plant, reduce the carbon content of the steel ladles, improve the quality of molten steel, meet the needs of production of ultra-low carbon steel and clean steel, extend the service life of the steel ladle, and reduce the consumption of refractory steel per ton of steel. In 2008, Shougang Kurosaki Refractories Co., Ltd. cooperated with the second steel plant to jointly develop and develop 225 tons of Mg-Al carbon steel ladle for steel refining. After two phases of experiments, it achieved remarkable results.

At the acceptance assessment meeting, experts listened to reports on research, application, and economic benefit analysis. After serious discussion, they formed such an acceptance opinion: The Mg-Al carbon steel bag wall developed by the project is under the same working conditions, The life of the ladle is increased by 40%; the consumption of refractories and the cost are reduced, and the production is stable and straight forward. In the second steel plant 225 tons of ladle application effect is significant. In particular, the erosion rate was reduced from the 2.4 mm/hearth of the original material ladle to the 1.29 mm/mass furnace of the developed Mg-Al carbonaceous ladle, reducing the contamination of molten steel by the refractories.
