What about gas poisoning?

Gas poisoning in households mainly refers to carbon monoxide poisoning, liquefied petroleum gas, pipeline gas, and natural gas poisoning. The former is more common in winter when coal stoves are used for heating, doors and windows are tightly closed, and poor smoke exhaust. The latter is common in liquefied stove leaks or gas pipeline leaks. During gas poisoning, the patient initially felt headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and weakness. When he realized the poisoning, he often struggled to get out of bed to open the door and open the window, but generally only a few people can open the door, and most patients quickly Convulsions, coma, cheeks, chest skin and lips are cherry red, if treatment is not timely, breathing can be suppressed quickly and die. Gas poisoning is usually divided into three types according to the concentration of carbon monoxide contained in the inhaled air and the length of the poisoning time:

(1) Light type: The poisoning time is short, and the carboxyhemoglobin in the blood is 10% to 20%. It manifests as early symptoms of poisoning, headache, dizziness, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, weakness in the limbs, and even short-term fainting. The general consciousness is still sober. After breathing in fresh air, the symptoms disappear quickly after leaving the poisoning environment.

(2) Medium: The poisoning takes a little longer, and the carboxyhemoglobin in the blood accounts for 30% to 40%. On the basis of the mild symptoms, collapse or coma may occur. The skin and mucous membranes present a cherry red characteristic of gas poisoning. If the rescue is timely, you can quickly wake up and recover completely within a few days, usually without sequelae.

(3) Heavy: found too late, inhale too much gas, or inhale high concentrations of carbon monoxide in a short time, blood oxyhemoglobin concentration is often above 50%, the patient presents with deep coma, various reflexes disappear, and incontinence , Cold limbs, decreased blood pressure, shortness of breath, and will soon die. Generally, the longer the coma lasts, the worse the prognosis, often with sequelae such as dementia, loss of memory and understanding, and paralysis.

If gas poisoning occurs in the family, the main measures are:

(1) Immediately call the "120" emergency number and wait for the arrival of the doctor;
(2) At the same time, open the doors and windows immediately, move the patient to a place with good ventilation and fresh air, and keep warm.
(3) Loosen the clothes button, keep the airway clear, and clear the mouth and nose secretions. If sudden respiratory arrest is found, mouth-to-mouth artificial respiration should be performed immediately and an external cardiac massage should be performed.
(4) Find the cause of gas leakage and eliminate hidden dangers.

After the gas poisoning is corrected, the gas usage should be checked to prevent further poisoning:

a. Check whether the gas leaks, whether the installation is reasonable, the gas stove has no faults, whether the method of use is correct, etc .;

b. Whether the heating method is correct in winter, whether the gas pipeline is unobstructed, whether the indoor ventilation is good, etc .;

c. Try not to use a coal stove for heating. If you use it, you must abide by the rules of coal stove heating, not sloppy;

d. The water heater should be built in a separate room from the bath, and the gas and water heater connection lines should be checked regularly for integrity;

e. If you feel the smell of gas after entering the room, you should quickly open the doors and windows, and check for gas leakage or a coal stove in the room, do not ignite;

f. Wipe the stove frequently to ensure that the stove does not cause human pollution. After using the gas switch, wash your hands with soap and rinse with running water;

g. Install exhaust fan or range hood in the kitchen;

h. Be sure to use special rubber hoses for gas, and do not use nylon, vinyl pipes or worn pipes. Check the pipeline passage every six months.
