The integration period of photovoltaic industry needs multiple forces to promote development

Since 2011, due to news of the reduction of PV subsidies in Europe, the prices of domestic polysilicon and PV modules have fallen sharply, and the export volume has decreased. The PV industry has been in a period of continuous downturn. In recent years, the domestic photovoltaic industry has experienced rapid development. In 2008, China's photovoltaic production capacity surpassed Germany, ranking first in the world. In 2010, domestic PV module production reached 13GW, accounting for 47.8% of global production capacity. At present, China's photovoltaic industry has established a sound industrial chain, and has mastered key technologies including solar cell manufacturing and polysilicon production. The localization of equipment and raw materials has been continuously improved. In the process, a number of competitive and well-known enterprises such as Suntech, Yingli and Jingao emerged. There are also many problems behind the surface of China's photovoltaic industry, such as over-reliance on foreign markets, the gap between crystalline silicon core technology and foreign advanced standards, and increased competition in the industry. "This year, under the influence of various factors, the whole industry is in a downturn, and the photovoltaic industry is facing an integration period." Shen Hongwen, a researcher in the new energy industry of China Investment Consulting, told the China Sankei Shimbun: First, the price of polysilicon fell. Polysilicon prices have continued to fall in the past two months and have now fallen to around $50/kg, the lowest price in six years. Second, the price of photovoltaic modules fell. The price of PV modules has fallen more than 30% this year and has continued to decline. Third, the inventory increased. As of the end of the second quarter, global PV module inventory has reached 8.6GW, a record high. The inventory of domestic PV manufacturers is also increasing. Fourth, exports have decreased. The shrinking demand in the European market, the largest market for Chinese PV companies, directly led to a decline in domestic PV module exports. The research report of international research institute IMS Research predicts that the global PV module shipments will rebound strongly in the second half of this year, and the falling component price is the key factor for demand reconstruction in the second half of the year. Han Xiaoping, chief information officer of China Energy Network, believes that the UN climate conference held in South Africa in the second half of this year is the key to judging whether demand can rebound. Han Xiaoping believes that if countries can re-agreed at the South African climate conference, the PV market rebound may be stronger. If countries are still in crisis, we can't take into account the issue of climate change, and there are no heavyweights attending the meeting. After the meeting, we have not reached the goal of global mutual emission reduction, then the overall development of the photovoltaic industry. It may be affected. The reasons for the imbalance between supply and demand should be viewed from the perspective of demand and supply. From the perspective of demand, mainly due to changes in the PV subsidy policy in European countries, the decline in installed capacity in the European market directly affected the export of domestic PV companies. From the perspective of supply, the prosperity of the photovoltaic industry in 2010 caused a large number of enterprises to enter the photovoltaic industry, photovoltaic capacity has risen sharply, and photovoltaic module production capacity is facing excess risk. The combination of these two factors has led to an imbalance between supply and demand in the photovoltaic market. Shen Hongwen believes that from a policy perspective, it is mainly through policy support to vigorously promote the development of the domestic PV market. The current domestic PV market has not been able to start on a large scale, which is not conducive to the healthy development of the domestic PV industry. The government should actively promote the development of the photovoltaic industry through the demonstration project. The government recently issued a document requesting the central government to continue to arrange funds to support the implementation of the Golden Sun demonstration project, which is of positive significance for promoting the development of the photovoltaic industry. From the perspective of industry development, it is mainly to actively promote the establishment of industry norms and industry access systems. At present, there are many enterprises in the domestic PV industry, and the unevenness is not conducive to improving the overall competitiveness of the photovoltaic industry. Relevant departments should promote industry entry barriers through industry norms and access systems to promote the orderly development of the photovoltaic industry.
