Copper has good conductivity and good mechanical properties. Therefore, copper alloy is an indispensable metal material in the industry, and has been widely used in electric power, machinery manufacturing, aerospace and other industries. In recent years, the sharp increase in copper prices has further increased the cost of copper alloy parts. With the rapid development of science and technology, there is an urgent need to improve the performance of copper alloy materials, requiring high thermal conductivity or high electrical conductivity. Improve its hardness, wear resistance and arc ablation resistance. Therefore, surface modification is an effective way to extend the service life of copper alloy parts and reduce the cost of their use.

At present, there are various surface strengthening methods (electroplating, electroless plating, ceramic strengthening, composite strengthening, etc.), but they have their own advantages and disadvantages, such as: thick coating, easy to fall off, pollution to the environment, etc. Surface strengthening techniques require further improvement and improvement. Laser surface technology provides a new energy source and solution to overcome the difficulties of these technologies.

However, the laser cladding technology of copper alloy surface still has its own problems:

1) The copper alloy has good thermal conductivity, small specific heat capacity, poor wettability, and a hard oxide film on the surface, which has a large reflectance to the spot, which makes the heat generated by the laser hard to stay on the surface, and the direct cladding function coating Layer is difficult to achieve;

2) The performance difference between the copper alloy matrix and the coating material system is very different. The interface failure problem in the use process should be paid attention to, and there should be a corresponding transition layer connection in the middle;

3) Insufficient toughness in the coating, defects such as thermal cracking and stress are present inside the coating.

The company successfully realized the surface modification of copper alloy by pulsed YAG laser, which provided an effective way to improve the wear resistance of copper alloy. The effect diagram is as follows:
