The small displacement MPV originally used a hydraulic power steering system (HPS), and after replacement, the Nexteer EPS was used. In the exhaust pollutant discharge experiment, the emissions of three kinds of exhaust pollutants such as CO, HC and NOX were detected after each kilometer of driving. After testing, the emissions of CO, HC and NOX were effectively reduced by light vehicles with the EPS provided by Nexteer, which decreased by 6.5%, 14.5% and 15.6% respectively.
In order to be able to obtain the test results more objectively, according to the standard of GB/T 19233-2008, the fuel consumption test was carried out on the conversion test bench in the urban, suburban and comprehensive driving environment. Compared to HPS, the use of Nexteer EPS can save about 4.2% of fuel consumption per 100 kilometers, about 0.33 liters.
EPS is a power steering system that relies directly on the motor to provide auxiliary torque. Compared with HPS, EPS completely eliminates the power steering oil pump, hose, hydraulic oil, conveyor belt and pulley mounted on the engine that HPS needs.
