Field research Wuhan laser enterprise

According to reports, Ye Mao, deputy director of the Industrial Technology Analysis Center at the Wuhan Branch of the National Science Library, led a research team to visit Jinyun Laser and Solidarity Laser. The purpose of the visit was to gain a deeper understanding of the development strategies, technology transfer pathways, and international market expansion plans of these two leading laser companies. During the discussions, the team also explored the opportunities and challenges currently faced by the laser industry in Hubei Province. Ai Jun, chairman of Jinyun Laser, and Feng Xun, vice general manager of Solidarity Laser, personally welcomed the research team and provided detailed insights into their operations.

Jinyun Laser, one of the two listed laser companies in Wuhan, specializes in providing medium and small power laser processing solutions. Through years of innovation and dedication, the company has grown into a globally recognized manufacturer of laser cutting machines, fiber laser cutting machines, metal cutting machines, fabric cutting machines, leather cutting machines, and acrylic cutting machines. Its products are now distributed in over 100 countries worldwide. Notably, Jinyun Laser has established itself as the leading brand in China for laser applications in the textile and garment industries.

Ai Jun emphasized that the current market share of lasers in the textile sector is only around 3%, indicating significant room for growth in the future. He also pointed out that traditional laser application fields still have considerable potential, while emerging areas such as environmental protection, modern agriculture, and healthcare present numerous new opportunities for the laser industry.

Feng Xun, vice general manager of Solidarity Laser, addressed several key questions regarding the development direction of high-power CO2 lasers and the company’s overseas expansion strategy. He mentioned that Solidarity Laser will engage in comprehensive cooperation with Russian partners in the fields of processing, equipment, and technology. This year, the company plans to sign a cooperation framework agreement with a local firm in Yekaterinburg Investment Holding Branch. Together, they will invest $3 million to establish “Ural Laser Technology Co., Ltd.”, with Solidarity holding 51% and the Russian partner 49%. The joint venture will focus on assembling, selling, and processing laser equipment, aiming to become a leading player in Russia’s laser processing industry. Over the next three years, Solidarity Laser intends to build nearly 100 laser processing chain institutions through mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and collaborations, further expanding its presence in the downstream of the laser industry.

Since its establishment, the Wuhan Industrial Technology Analysis Center has been deeply rooted in the Optics Valley of China, continuously tracking domestic and international trends in the laser industry. It has built strong relationships with the Wuhan Donghu High-tech Development Zone government, the China Optics Valley Laser Industry Association, and numerous laser enterprises. The center offers various information consultation and industrial technology analysis services. The recent survey not only enhanced communication between the parties but also strengthened mutual trust. Both sides agreed that the development of the laser industry still requires more efforts to drive progress in the downstream segments of the supply chain and to further expand its application fields. Feng Xun expressed hope that the Wuhan Branch of the Industrial Technology Analysis Center would continue to transfer advanced technological information and industrial analysis theories to laser companies, contributing to the growth of China's Optics Valley and the broader laser industry in Hubei Province.
