Nantong City Overhead Gradual Monitoring Full Coverage

In a recent development, Nantong City has announced that its elevated urban roads will gradually achieve full coverage of surveillance systems. This initiative aims to prevent violations such as large trucks entering restricted zones, ensuring safer and more efficient traffic flow on the city's elevated highways. According to Zhou Hua, head of the technical detachment of the patrol department, large trucks are strictly prohibited from using the city's elevated roads. This restriction is in place because overweight vehicles can cause significant damage to the infrastructure. Exceeding the designed weight limit not only shortens the lifespan of the elevated roads but also poses serious safety risks, including potential accidents involving heavy trucks. The newly opened intersection at the eastern end of Dongfang Avenue has been equipped with high-definition vehicle recognition and capture systems. These advanced tools are used to detect and penalize violations like illegal truck access. Within just a month, over 30 large trucks were identified and dealt with on the elevated section of Dongfang Avenue. Similarly, key areas such as Jianghai Avenue, Tongning Avenue, and bridge decks have been fully covered by electronic police systems, allowing for real-time monitoring of traffic conditions and quick response to any irregularities. On Changjiang Road, a high-definition license plate recognition system has been installed at the entrance of the Binjiang Bridge, while another one is set up at the Fuyuan Road intersection on Ziyi Road. Tongjing Avenue, which functions as a fully enclosed expressway, now has comprehensive coverage of both electronic police and license plate capture systems. The overpass on Renmin Road also bans large trucks from entry, and the elevated entrance on Tong Kai Road, specifically at the Hongqiao Road Gongnong intersection, is equipped with high-definition capture devices. The surveillance equipment on Tonghu Avenue has been fully operational for over a year, featuring high-definition license plate capture at entrances, ground-level electronic police monitoring, and high-resolution deck monitoring. This extensive coverage ensures that all traffic movements on the elevated roads are closely watched and regulated. Zhou Hua reminded truck drivers that any violation detected on the elevated roads would result in a penalty of 3 points and a fine of 100 yuan. For drivers holding licenses for large passenger cars, tractors, city buses, medium-sized passenger vehicles, or large trucks, if they accumulate 12 points within a scoring period or fail to attend exams for three consecutive periods, their licenses will be revoked or downgraded. In cases where a license is canceled, only the highest current driving category is removed, and the qualifications for large and medium-sized passenger vehicles are gradually reduced. Eventually, only the right to drive small cars remains. Additionally, drivers who have a full 12 points cannot apply for a large bus driver’s license for five years, and they are barred from applying for a towing vehicle or medium-duty bus license for three years. Besides trucks, motorcycles, pedestrians, and non-motorized vehicles are also strictly prohibited from using the elevated roads. This comprehensive approach ensures the safety and efficiency of Nantong's elevated transportation network.
