In 2013, technicians from the Wenshan Prefecture Tobacco Company in Yunnan Province visited Maanshan Village, under the Biyun Village Committee, in Ganhe Township, Daishan County. Their objective was to conduct a field test on the application of quizalofop (also known as Yantianjing) in tobacco fields. The primary focus of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of different concentrations of this herbicide against various weeds, including rehmannia grass, bamboo leaf grass, trichomoniagrass, forked fork, and high-grade zhizhi. According to the data published by **China Pesticides Network**, the results of the experiment showed that the herbicidal effect of quizalofop varied significantly depending on the concentration used. The effectiveness ranged between 50% and 90%, which represented a substantial improvement over manual weeding. In terms of cost savings, spraying with quizalofop reduced expenses by 76.9 to 90.20 yuan per 666.7 square meters compared to traditional hand-weeding methods. Interestingly, when using a 700-fold dilution, the herbicidal effect was only around 50%, which was considered insufficient. Therefore, it was recommended to use a 300- to 500-fold dilution instead. This range not only provided the best control of weeds but also kept the cost within an affordable range—between 30 to 40 yuan per 666.7 square meters. At these concentrations, the herbicidal effect exceeded 80%, making it a highly efficient and cost-effective solution. From an economic perspective, the cost of spraying quizalofop was significantly lower than manual weeding. On average, the cost reduction was about 84.36 yuan per 666.7 square meters. However, the exact cost varied depending on the dilution level. For instance, the cost for 700-fold, 500-fold, and 300-fold dilutions was 29.80 yuan, 34 yuan, and 43.1 yuan per 666.7 square meters, respectively. Overall, the study demonstrated that quizalofop is a powerful and economically viable option for weed control in tobacco fields. It not only improves efficiency but also helps reduce labor costs, making it a valuable tool for farmers looking to optimize their operations.
