In 2013, technicians from the Wenshan Prefecture Tobacco Company in Yunnan Province visited Maanshan Village, under the Biyun Village Committee, Ganhe Township, Daishan County, to conduct field trials on the application of quizalofop in tobacco fields. The primary objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of different concentrations of quizalofop (also known as Yantianjing) against various weeds such as rehmannia grass, bamboo leaf grass, trichomoniagrass, forked fork, and high-grade zhizhi. According to the results published by **China Pesticides Network**, the findings were quite encouraging.
The experiment revealed that the herbicidal effect of varying concentrations of quizalofop was highly effective, with weed control rates ranging between 50% and 90%. Compared to manual weeding, the cost savings were significant, amounting to 76.9 to 90.20 yuan per 666.7 square meters. However, when using a 700-fold dilution, the herbicidal effect was only around 50%, which led researchers to recommend using a concentration of 300 to 500 times. This range not only provided the best results but also kept costs low at approximately 30 to 40 yuan per 666.7 square meters. At this concentration, the herbicidal efficiency exceeded 80%.
From an economic perspective, the use of quizalofop significantly reduced labor costs compared to manual weeding, with an average saving of 84.36 yuan per 666.7 square meters. The cost differences between the 700-fold, 500-fold, and 300-fold dilutions were also notable: 29.80 yuan, 34 yuan, and 43.1 yuan per 666.7 square meters, respectively. These results highlight the practicality and economic benefits of using quizalofop for weed management in tobacco farming, making it a viable and efficient alternative to traditional methods.
