Trifluralin is a broad-spectrum herbicide that works by contact and is also systemic. It is widely favored by farmers due to its effectiveness in controlling a wide range of weeds. It is commonly applied to the soil before sowing in crops such as kidney beans, kale, lettuce, and carrots. For application, mix 150–200 grams of 48% Trifluralin Emulsifiable Concentrate with 75–100 liters of water and spray evenly using a sprayer. It can also be mixed into the soil immediately after application to enhance its effectiveness.
Important notes: Trifluralin is prone to photolysis and volatilization, so it should be applied promptly after mixing. Delaying application may reduce its efficacy. The main mechanism of action involves disrupting the growth and hormone transport in weeds, thereby inhibiting cell division. However, it does not prevent weed seed germination, meaning it cannot kill dormant seeds.
Alachlor, also known as Lasso or Otrasuo, is a systemic herbicide that is absorbed through the roots and shoots of weeds. It is suitable for most vegetables except for cucumbers, leeks, and spinach. Before sowing or transplanting, apply 300–500 grams of Alachlor per 667 square meters, mixed with 40–50 liters of water, and spray evenly. After application, the soil can be lightly tilled to incorporate the herbicide. If the field is covered with plastic mulch, the dosage should be reduced by about one-third to one-half. This herbicide is especially effective against annual grasses and some broadleaf weeds.
