Cloud service becomes the next new trend

Cloud service becomes the next new trend At the opening of the 14th China International Public Safety Expo in 2013, a wave of high-definition, smart, and cloud-based technologies made their way into the spotlight. With China preparing for the second phase of its smart city initiatives from 2014 to 2018, industry experts predict continued growth and innovation. Representatives from leading security companies such as Dahua, Hikvision, Infinera, and Tongfang shared their visions with reporters, highlighting that while networked systems and high-definition products are currently dominant, cloud services may soon emerge as the next big trend. Dahua, one of the top players in the security sector, showcased its HDCVI coaxial high-definition technology, which has now been recognized internationally. This marks the first time a domestic standard in the security industry has been incorporated into international guidelines. Previously, overseas firms dominated this space, but the latest developments at the expo show a shift in power. A range of products based on HDCVI were unveiled, signaling a growing focus on high-definition and smart solutions. "The industry has gradually shifted toward high-definition over the past few years, and we’ve helped speed up this transition," said an official from Dahua. The security sector is now entering a new era of high-definition smart technology, with more companies emphasizing "HD" and "smart" features in their product lines. At the event, Infinera and Bosch Security introduced 4K ultra-high-definition cameras for the first time, while Hikvision, often referred to as a leader in the security market, presented a variety of smart products, including face recognition libraries, 2MP HD auto-tracking, and binocular stereo vision systems. Looking ahead, cloud services are seen as the next major evolution in the industry. Li Tong, marketing director at Tongfang Cloud Computing, outlined the company’s three-step plan: first, developing cloud products and supporting cloud functions; second, creating cloud solution products; and third, offering full cloud services. Each stage is expected to take around 2–3 years. Hikvision's president, Hu Yangzhong, also mentioned that the scale of integrators will grow significantly in the coming years, with large-scale enterprises potentially achieving annual revenues of 2 to 5 billion yuan. Data service providers are becoming key players in the market. According to Yan Fan, an analyst from China Merchants Securities, after the front-end of the security industry has advanced to high-definition and intelligent stages, the next wave of innovation will likely come from the backend and platform development. As unstructured data continues to grow, big data and cloud computing are placing higher demands on back-end research and development. Issues like massive data storage, query optimization, node load balancing, and backup disaster recovery are becoming critical challenges for the industry to address.
