How to Properly Remove NSK Bearings

When it's time to remove and repair an NSK bearing, the process should be done carefully to avoid damaging the component. Begin by documenting the appearance of the bearing and noting the remaining lubricant. After sampling, proceed with the removal. Use a scavenger or gasoline-based cleaning oil throughout the process. It’s important to ensure that the bearing is not directly exposed to dirt during cleaning. For the initial cleaning, place the bearing on a metal mesh inside a container. This prevents direct contact with any impurities at the bottom of the container. When performing the rough wash, avoid rotating the bearing in the presence of dirt, as this can damage the rolling surfaces. Use a brush to remove grease and adhesive substances before moving to the fine wash stage. During the fine washing, rotate the bearing while removing the oil, and clean it thoroughly. Make sure to replace the oil regularly to maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination.
