Environmentally friendly microbial source fungicide - characteristics of Pseudomonas fluorescens

Pseudomonas fluorescens is an eco-friendly, microbial-based product that offers high efficiency, non-toxicity, and no pollution. It utilizes the broad-spectrum antibacterial properties of Pseudomonas fluorescens, which is processed through advanced fermentation techniques to create a low-toxicity biofungicide. This product promotes root development and effectively prevents and controls diseases such as bacterial wilt, tomato, eggplant, pepper, and tobacco infections, as well as soil-borne diseases like ginger blast in solanaceous crops. It can be applied across various crops including vegetables, cotton, wheat, rice, and tobacco. Common trade names include Eclipse, Chlorosis, Wilting, Eroding, and Pseudomonas fluorescens. Available formulations include 500 million CFU/g wettable powder, 1 billion CFU/ml liquid, 1.5 billion CFU/g water-dispersible granules, and 300 billion CFU/g powder. Major manufacturers are Shandong Minfeng Industrial Company, Jiangsu Haili Chemical, and Shandong Jiaonan Oasis Biological Engineering Co., Ltd. The product works by utilizing the biological control mechanism against plant viruses. The active ingredient, Pseudomonas fluorescens, inhibits pathogenic bacteria through competition and site occupation, thereby preventing disease development. In addition, it produces auxin-like substances that promote root growth, helping to prevent root rot. It effectively manages issues such as seed rot, seedling death, and dry plants caused by diseases in wheat, with notable results on wheat total etch disease, root rot, and sheath blight. It also controls bacterial wilt in tomatoes and tobacco, while promoting seedling germination and plant growth, serving both as a preventive agent and a bacterial fertilizer. It also shows some effectiveness against cotton blight, cotton mites, tobacco black shank, and rice sheath rot. For wheat, use 1.0–1.5 kg of 500 million CFU/g wettable powder per 100 kg of seeds after moistening. For root irrigation, mix 100–150 g of wettable powder with 100–150 kg of clean water and apply to the root zone. To control tobacco bacterial wilt, use 512.5–662.5 grams of 300 billion CFU/g powder per acre for soaking, pouring, and root filling. When applying, avoid direct sunlight during seed treatment, ensure the solution reaches the root area, and avoid mixing with other pesticides or fungicides. Store in a cool, dark, and dry place, and keep the product sealed. For tomato bacterial wilt, dilute 100–100 times with 100 million CFU/ml liquid. China's Pesticide Network recommends using 437.5–550 grams of 300 billion CFU/g Pseudomonas fluorescens powder per acre for soaking, pouring, and root filling.
