Chilled cast iron camshaft casting technology

The camshaft is one of the main components of the automobile engine. The hardness of the tip of the camshaft and the depth of the white layer are the key technical indicators for determining the service life of the camshaft. Under the premise of ensuring that the cam has sufficient hardness and a considerable depth of the white layer, it is also considered that there is no higher carbide at the journal, so that it has better processing performance. At present, the main methods for producing camshafts at home and abroad are as follows:
(1) The process of forming a martensite layer by high-frequency quenching of a steel forged blank by cutting.
(2) In the late 1970s, Germany and France developed the camshaft argon arc remelting process.
(3) Hardened cast iron camshafts based on the United States.
(4) Chilled cast iron camshafts based mainly in Japan and France.
(5) The production process of alloying the surface of the casting with a Cr-Mn-Mo alloy coating on the cam portion.
