Bayer Optoelectronics has successfully developed the largest single crystal furnace in China

Yuan Yuping, the vice general manager of Jiangsu Baierte Optoelectronics Equipment Co., Ltd., revealed at the "Bayer Optoelectronics Media Meeting" on the 13th that the company has successfully developed a production capacity for single crystal silicon rods after three years of dedicated research. The newly developed TDR-105 single crystal furnace can produce up to 350 kg of high-efficiency, energy-saving silicon rods, with an effective crystallization rate exceeding 85%. This achievement marks a significant milestone, indicating that China's technology in single crystal silicon rod production equipment has reached international advanced levels. As part of its strategy to advance world-leading process technologies, Bayer Optoelectronics is focusing on developing the largest single-loading capacity Czochralski crystal furnace in the country. In 2011, the company established special research funds and brought together experts from multiple disciplines, including mechanical engineering, automation, and software development, to focus on creating a high-efficiency, energy-saving TDR-105 single crystal furnace capable of producing 350 kg of monocrystalline silicon. This innovation aims to better meet the demands of the global market. According to Yuan Yuping, the TDR-105 furnace developed by Bayer Optoelectronics has introduced several key innovations. The redesigned furnace structure improves gas flow direction, significantly reducing energy loss. Moreover, through extensive research, the transmission system has become more stable and reliable. Currently, the maximum input capacity of a single furnace used by domestic manufacturers is only 180 kg. With the TDR-105, production costs could be reduced by approximately 30% compared to older models, and energy consumption could drop by around 20%. In addition, Yuan shared that the N-type single crystal silicon rods produced by the new furnace were sliced and processed into IBC solar cells by the International Solar Energy Research Center in Konstanz, Germany. These cells achieved a conversion efficiency of 22.3%, reaching world-leading standards. Meanwhile, P-type single crystal rods were processed into solar cells by domestic companies, achieving a conversion efficiency of 19.5%, which also meets advanced industry benchmarks. To accelerate the industrialization and commercial application of the TDR-105 furnace, Bayer Optoelectronics has begun establishing demonstration application bases in Yixing City, Jiangsu Province. This initiative is expected to drive further growth in the photovoltaic industry and support the company’s long-term vision of technological leadership. (Reporter: Guo Guozhong)
