On July 31st, a high-level delegation led by Governor Bayin Chaolu of Jilin Province visited Jilin University to inspect the progress of scientific and technological achievements and their industrial transformation. The group included Vice Governor Gu Chunli, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Political Consultative Conference, Director of the Education Department Zhang Bojun, Secretary of the Provincial Government Li Fuchun, as well as leaders from the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Finance Department, Department of Industry and Information Technology, and the Human Resources and Social Security Office, along with officials from the Science and Technology Department. They toured the National Engineering Laboratory for AIDS Vaccine and the State Key Practice Room for Superhard Materials. Professor Kong Wei, Dean of the School of Life Sciences and Director of the National Engineering Laboratory for AIDS Vaccine, introduced the lab’s objectives, organizational structure, equipment, and research outcomes. Professor Sun Fei presented the “Jizhiyuan” project, while Professor Li Pingya discussed the anti-cancer research on ginseng and American ginseng. During the visit to the National Engineering Laboratory for AIDS Vaccine, Governor Bayin Chaolu engaged in a warm exchange with researchers, showing great interest in their work. In the State Key Laboratory of Superhard Materials, the delegation listened to detailed reports from Professor Zou Guangtian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Associate Dean Ren Zhi, who outlined key research areas such as high-voltage techniques, diamond film deposition, and high-temperature, high-pressure synthetic diamond technology. They also discussed preparations for national major science and technology infrastructure projects. When the delegation learned that the laboratory had only transferred its technology to Henan Province, Governor Bayin Chaolu encouraged the researchers to leverage Jilin's resources and further promote the industrialization of their technologies within the province. Chen Dewen emphasized that Jilin University should fully support the transformation of its scientific and technological achievements, prioritizing local development in Jilin. He stressed the importance of building a market-oriented, industry-academia-research integrated innovation system to serve both the national and regional economies. This visit highlighted the government's strong commitment to fostering innovation and driving economic growth through scientific advancement.
