Standard method for inspection of fabrics

Cloth inspection standard "four-point scoring method"

The common method of inspection of cloth is the "four-point scale method". In this "four-point scale", the highest score for any single defect is four points. Regardless of the number of defects in the cloth, the number of lines per line must not exceed four points.

For defects in the latitude and longitude and other directions, the defect score will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

One point: The length of the defect is 3 inches or less.
Two points: The length of the defect is more than 3 inches and less than 6 inches.
Three points: The length of the defect is more than 6 inches and less than 9 inches.
Four points: The length of the defect is greater than 9 inches

For serious defects, each yard will be rated as four points. For example: Regardless of the diameter, all holes will be rated as four points.
For consecutive defects, such as: crosspieces, edge-to-edge chromatic aberration, narrow or irregular cloth width, creases, uneven dyeing, etc., each yard point should be rated as four points.
The score per code point must not exceed four points.

Calculation of the score:

In principle, after each roll of cloth is inspected, the scores obtained can be added up. Then, according to the acceptance level, the grades are evaluated, but since different seals have different acceptance levels, if the following formula is used to calculate the score of each roll of cloth per 100 square yards, only one square is required. The assigned scores under the code can be used to rank different cloth seals.
(total score x 36 x 100) / (number of codes tested x width of cloth that can be cropped) = score per 100 square yards

Acceptance level of different cloth types

Different types of cloth are divided into the following four categories.

Single-volume cloths exceeding the specified score should be classified as second-class products. If the average score of the entire batch of cloth exceeds the specified score level, the batch of cloth should be considered as failed.

Woven fabric
Type cloth type single volume batch
1 full artificial fabric, polyester / nylon / acetate products
Shirt material
Spun rayon fabric
Worsted wool 20 points / 100 square yards 16 points / 100 square yards
2 denim
canvas
Poplin/Oxford striped or checkered cotton shirting material
Spun rayon fabric

Striped or plaid fabric/dyed phthalocyanine
All special fabrics, jacquard fabrics / more than corduroy / velvet / stretch denim / artificial fabric / blend 28 points / 100 square yards 20 points / 100 square yards
3 linen
Thin cotton cloth 40 points / 100 square yards 32 points / 100 square yards
4 Dopioni Silk / Light Silk 50 points / 100 square yards 40 points / 100 square yards

Knitted fabric

Type cloth type single volume batch
1 full artificial fabric, polyester / nylon / acetate products

Worsted wool
Blended silk 20 points / 100 square yards 16 points / 100 square yards
2 full professional cloth, jacquard fabric / more than corduroy
Spun rayon fabric
Woolen goods
Dyed gingham yarn
Velvet / spandex 25 points / 100 square yards 20 points / 100 square yards
3 basic knitted fabric (combed cotton / blended cotton) 30 points / 100 square yards 25 points / 100 square yards
4 Basic knitted fabric (cotton carded by combing machine) 40 points / 100 square yards 32 points / 100 square yards

Sampling procedure

Selecting the volume to be inspected is completely random.
The textile mill needs to present the cargo package to the inspector when at least 80% of the rolls in the batch have been packaged. The inspector will select the test volume from it.
Once the inspector selects the volume to be inspected, no further adjustments may be made to the number of inspections or the number of volumes that have been selected for inspection.
During the inspection, no yards of cloth may be taken from any volume other than the recorded and checked colors.
All rolls that were inspected were rated and scored.

Other considerations for assessing cloth grade

Repeated mistakes:

1. Any repeated and/or continually appearing defects will constitute a repeat. Four points must be imposed for repeated violations of each code.
2. Regardless of the score of the defect, any volume with more than ten yards of cloth containing repeated defects shall be classified as unqualified.

Full width width:

3. Volumes containing more than four full width defects per 100 square yards shall not be rated as first class.
4. A volume containing more than one major defect per 10 linear line numbers will be considered unqualified, regardless of how many defects are contained within 100 yards.
5. Volumes containing a significant defect in the first three yards or the last three yards should be considered unqualified. Major defects will be considered as a three- or four-point defect.
6. If the cloth has obvious loose or tight lines on a selvedge, or wrinkles, wrinkles, creases, or creases on the main body of the fabric, these conditions cause the cloth to be uneven when the fabric is unfolded in the usual way. The volumes cannot be rated as first-class products.

Cloth width:

7. When testing a roll of cloth, check its width at least three times at the beginning, middle, and final. If the width of a roll of cloth is close to the specified minimum width or the width of the cloth is not uniform, then the number of checks for the width of the roll is increased.
8. If the roll width is less than the specified minimum purchase width, the volume will be rated as unacceptable.
9. For woven fabrics, if the width is one inch wider than the specified purchase width, the volume will be rated as unacceptable. However, for elastic woven fabrics, even if it is 2 inches wider than the specified width, it can be qualified. Cloth inspection standard "four-point scoring method"
