At the same time, the market interest in recycled pet pellets, which can be imported as common commodities, continues to increase. This paper briefly analyzes the import of other primary shapes of polyethylene terephthalate from 2017 to the present.
Other primary forms of polyethylene terephthalate were separated from the 39,970,090 tariff in 2017, and recycled pet pellets were imported as common commodities. In November, the import of other primary forms of polyethylene terephthalate was 22,700 tons, an increase of 104.27% over the same period of last year. The cumulative import from January to November was 176,000 tons. It is estimated that the annual import volume will be around 200,000 tons. In November, the import of pets was 90,500 tons, a decrease of 65.34%. From January to November 2017, the cumulative import was 2.103 million tons, a decrease of 6.77% year-on-year. The import base of other primary forms of polyethylene terephthalate is relatively small, and the import trend of recycled pet bottle and bottle bricks is basically the same in the first half of the year. However, there was a clear differentiation in the first half of the year, especially in November, when both imports went against each other and the import of pellets increased significantly.
Other primary forms of polyethylene terephthalate are among the major importers, with South Korea, Taiwan and Japan occupying the top three, with the three accounting for nearly 60% of the total. In addition, the Southeast Asia Group has obvious advantages, with Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam ranking higher.
Although the performance of the pellets is not dominant, the market attention will continue to increase and the import volume will continue to increase in the context of a clear supply gap. Some downstream reclaimed chemical fiber companies said that foreign imported pellet samples have seen a lot, but not much is really easy to use. As part of making up for the gap in the supply of recycled pets, it remains to be seen how much the particles can play. At the same time, we should pay attention to the trend of polyester chips in the same granular state. At present, the price difference between high-quality recycled bottle and polyester chips is kept low, and the price of recycled particles is between the two or the price of high-quality bottle is quite reasonable, otherwise it is downstream. Procurement trends will change.
