According to reports, due to technical and cost reasons, many plastic products on the market now use traditional plasticizers containing toxicity, while the US FDA and EU certified two types of non-toxic plasticizers, citrate esters and epoxy vegetable oil products. It has not been widely used in China. The reason is that the lower technical level of many production enterprises leads to low product quality and hidden dangers in production safety.

Guo Kaixun introduced: "Microfluidic field reaction technology scale engineering application is an international common problem, because the traditional microchannel reaction scale is in the hundred micron range. Once the scale is expanded, the microfluidic field effect of complex organic chemical reaction system will be lost, but we The research results have been able to maintain the microfluidic field effect at the centimeter scale. The traditional microchannel reactor of the hundred micron scale can only produce 100 kg to tons of plasticizer per year, which is difficult to meet the production and market demand, while the centimeter diameter The reactor can produce tons of tons per year."

After many years of technical breakthroughs, Prof. Guo Kai's research team broke through the technical bottlenecks such as scale amplification and scale effect difficult to synchronize, difficult to integrate multi-unit system, and lack of efficient engineering equipment. Associate Professor Fang Zheng, the research team, said: "The products such as citrate esters produced by our cooperative manufacturers have been certified by domestic and foreign authorities such as China, the United States, and the European Union, and have been applied in many domestic and foreign enterprises to solve the plasticizer reaction quality. It is reported that the project team led by Professor Guo Kai has been completed with the support of the National 973 Program, the National Major Project, the National Natural Science Foundation and the School-Enterprise Cooperation Project. The project-related technologies have applied for 32 national invention patents, including 21 patents granted. 11 SCI papers have made important contributions to the promotion of the scale application of microfluidic technology and the non-toxic transformation and derivative applications of the plasticizer industry. In the past three years, new sales reached 1.628 billion yuan, and new profits and taxes were 258 million yuan.
