Decorative paper national standards will be implemented in 2011

The National Standards Review Committee sponsored by the National Panel on Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC198) was informed that the first national standard for decorative paper, namely the "National Standard for Artificial Panel-Floor" national paper, was reviewed by experts on November 26 and will be Approved in December 2010, it is expected to be implemented in 2011.

Decorative paper is an important raw material for melamine-impregnated paperboard facing wood-based panels. The melamine impregnated film coated wood-based panel is the fastest-growing, highest-yield, and most widely-used product in decorative wood-based panels. It is mainly used in furniture, flooring, doors and windows, cabinets, walk-in wardrobes, and bathroom cabinets. Indoor partitions and staircases and other products. The annual usage of decorative paper in China is close to 300,000 tons, accounting for about one-third of the world's total output. At least 43% of the domestic particleboard and medium-high-density fiberboard use decorative paper finishes. The importance of decorative paper to the industry can thus be seen. The formulation of national standards for decorative paper is of great significance for the healthy development of the industry and the protection of consumer rights and interests.

There are no international standards for decorative paper, and foreign advanced companies organize production according to corporate standards. China has not yet published the national standard for the implementation of decorative paper, and only the forestry industry standard LY/T1831-2009 "Decorative Paper for Artificial Panel Decoration" was issued in 2009.

The drafting of national standards for decorative papers was coordinated by the Decorative Papers Professional Committee of the China Forest Products Industry Association. The wood industry research institute of the Chinese Academy of Forestry was responsible for the papermaking, printing, dipping, man-made boards, pressure stickers, adhesives, inks, and machinery. More than thirty scientific research, teaching, quality supervision and production units in various fields participated in the drafting work. This standard is applicable to decorative papers for impregnated paperboard facing veneer (DPL) and thermosetting resin impregnated paper high pressure decorative laminate (HPL), including base paper, printed decorative paper, decorative film paper, and wear-resistant decorative adhesive. Film paper, surface paper, surface film paper, wear-resistant surface paper, wear-resistant surface film, balancing paper, balance film paper.

The review panel highly praised the drafting of national standards for decorative paper, and assessed the national standard of decorative papers as an international standard. It can be foreseen that the publication and implementation of the national standard for decorative paper will certainly play a positive role in regulating the quality of decorative paper and solving quality disputes.
